Informational Updates – June 2018

18th Avenue – Underground Utility Work
  • Scope of work is to place power and communication lines on 18th Avenue between Jefferson and Cherry underground
  • Comments have been recieved from SDOT for the Utility Major Permit (UMP) and the Street Improvement Permit (SIP). We are preparing to resubmit next week. It should take a few weeks after that to obtain the permits. Work will begin immediately. It will not require road closurec.
  • The SIP covers capital improvements mandated in the Conditions of the MIMP. Details of the work can be found in the SMC Cherry Hill MIMP City Council Findings Response Worksheet, Item #9.
  • Trailers will be delivered to the site when there is a firm start date. They will be placed along the east side of 18th Avenue in front of the houses to the north of the Hope Hears building.
Puget Sound Energy
  • PSE has obtained the SDOT street use permit for the Natural gas Line work on 18th Avenue. There are two locations that they will cap off in 18th Avenue. It will more than likely require two days to complete. There will not be a full street closure but there will be one-way traffic.
  • We anticipate this work to occur in the next 2 – 4 weeks.

Cherry Street Residential Project:

Building Permit:

  • Permit and MUP corrections have been submitted to the City.

Demolition:

  • Expecting the MUP & Building permit in July / August. This is when we plan to begin demolition. Some preliminary exterior work will be done in July.

Transportation Events

Transportation Fair
  • Transportation fair was held in the plaza on June 6th. The purpose of these fairs is to inform employees and visitors about transportation options to single vehicles. 138 people participated.
  • The next fair is planned for late September.

Bike Everywhere Day
  • Bike Everywhere Day – May 18th – Over 120 attendees visited our Bike Booth on the corner of Jefferson and the plaza drive. We participated with Cascadian Bike; our stip was included on their map of the Bike Stations. We provided bike tune-ups, breakfast snacks and free promotion items like including a Patch Repair Kit.
City’s Notice to Community Process
  • Seattle Separtment of Construction & Inspections (SDCI) sends out notifications to adjacent property owners and tenants within a 300-foot radius.
  • Project information is posted on the land Use Information Bulletin Section of the SDCI website.
  • Anyone providing comments to SDCI during the MUP process and requests to be on the notification mailing list OR if anyone signing up at the Early Design Guidance / Design Review Board meetings will receive notification from the City.
