18th Avenue – Cherry Hill Medical Pavilion

  • Utility Undergrounding Project along 18th Ave began in December 2021.  This work involves moving electrical and communication lines underground and servicing water lines.
  • Interruptions to sidewalk access along the east side of 18th Ave between Cherry and Jefferson will start the last week of February.  Pedestrians will need to cross at the crosswalks at the intersections of 18th and Cherry/Jefferson streets.
  • Starting in Mid- March parking on the west side of 18th Ave will not be available. Work will be performed in the east drive line on 18th Ave and will be closed to traffic.  The west side of 18th Ave will be open to cars.
  • Work will begin at 7 a.m. each day in accordance with the noise ordinance rules as required by the City of Seattle.
  • During Road work, there will be flaggers, crossing guards and/or signage to help cars and pedestrians navigate safely.

18th Avenue – Cherry Hill Medical Pavilion

  • Sabey Construction is working with Seattle City Light to terminate power to the 3 structures.  This work is expected to be complete by mid-December.
  • Landscaping removal will continue the week of December 7, followed by soil excavation.
  • In mid-December, demolition of all 3 structures will begin and should conclude before the end of December.
  • Soil grading will occur in December and into January.

  • The transportation fair on September 4th went well with great weather to have it outdoors! The transportation vendors attending were Kitsap Transit, Commute Seattle, Car2Go, Hytch, CareGiver Commute, Sound Transit, Lime, Metro, and Good-to-go Electronic Tolling. In addition to the vendors, we had live music from one of our local artists, Larry Murante as well as gelato treat from Gelatiamo. According to the passports that were turned in, we had about 126 attendees. Everyone had a great time!

18th Avenue – Underground Utility work

  • Scope of work is to place power and communications lines on 18th Avenue between Jefferson & Cherry underground
  • Comments have been received from SDOT for the Utility Major Permit (UMP) and the Street Improvement Permit (SIP). We are preparing to resubmit next week. It should take a few weeks after that to obtain the permits. Work will begin immediately. It will not require road closures.
  • The SIP covers capital improvements mandated in the Conditions of the MIMP. Details of the work can be found in the SMC Cherry Hill MIMP City Council Findings Response Worksheet, Item #9.
  • We were delayed in resubmitting the SIP and UMP plans back to SDOT. We now have the needed information and will resubmit the UMP application on 7/10/2018; the SIP will be resubmitted on 7/18.
  • Plans have been resubmitted and we are waiting for Permits.
  • Trailers will be delivered to the site when there is a firm start date. They will be placed along the east side of 18th Avenue in front of the houses to the north of the Hope Heart building.
  • We have received another round of comments for the UMP and SIP permits.
  • Plans are being updated to address the comments and we will resubmit them next week.

Puget Sound Energy

  • PSE has obtained their SDOT street use permit for the Natural Gas Line work on 18th There are two locations that they will cap off in 18th Avenue. It will more than likely require two days to complete. There will not be a full street closure but there will be one-way traffic.
  • PSE- July 18th PSE will be capping the two gas lines on 18th Avenue. May require one-way traffic but not a lane closure.
  • This work has been completed.
